Homes for the North welcomes the new Prime Minister and looks forward to working with him and his Cabinet to deliver lasting improvements for communities across the North. We are encouraged by the Government’s commitment to further devolution and the opportunity this presents to empower local leaders, unlock regeneration and support the delivery of more and better homes.
In response, Paul Fiddaman, Chair of Homes for the North, said:
“On behalf of Homes for the North, I wish the incoming Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, well in the months and years ahead.
We are encouraged that a key plank of his agenda will be the devolution of further powers to regional and sub-regional governments.
Many of our members already have established partnerships with Mayors and Combined Authorities which have enabled us to deliver more and better homes across the north. More power over housing taken out of Westminster and given to local and regional government has the potential to grow this work.
This is an exciting time and Homes for the North stand ready to work with local and regional government partners, employing these new powers to more quickly deliver more and better homes for the north.”
